Hey modonauts! I'm a modo user and studying character animation at http://www.ianimate.net. My good friend, and head of character animation at iAnimate.net, Jason Ryan used a clip to animate one his live weekly demos from a modcasts I thought was funny.

We would like to give a huge thanks to Brad & David for lending us their voice talents. The clip is very entertaining and Jason is a great animator, so it's funny to see. The rig and animation were done in Maya, with the surfacing, lighting, set modeling, and rendering done in Modo.

So with all the 'shout outs' you guys do during your modcasts...here's one for you!

That's great stuff! Very funny! :)

Except for the lipsync, is there any reason this entire thing couldn't be done in modo alone?
Just wondering.

I wish that was my animation! Ha ha. Jason Ryan did it. I'm not there yet, but I hope to post some of my work here soon that I've also rendered in Modo.

Yep, I think it could. Keep in mind though, Jason has worked at Disney were they use Maya and currently at DreamWorks were they use there own priperitory software. That and since character animation tools really fully came out, I haven't seen any rigs done like this in Modo yet (hint hint Rich Hurley!).
That was great!
Very expressive and well timed.
Couple things though, Brad is taller than David and Brad is blue, David is Green.
Aside from that, great work and fun to watch.
Very well animated. Was this done with modo?
A+ Larry V & Jason Ryan,
I will never be able to listen to modcast the same way again!!

Thank you very much!
Animation in Maya, rendered in Modo :-)
Their likenesses are stunning! Great job.
Made me smile!

Excellent facial expressions. Well done

Fantastic example of how to get so much expression out of fairly simple characters. For some reason it reminded me of the animated Ricky Gervais Show. Just real simple illustrations, but with really funny expressions and I especially like how they animated Ricky when he laughs, much like in this one. Very well done.
It left me wanting more!!!
Great facial expressions.... really nicely done.
Loved it and I want more!
Hey Larry! I didn't know you used Modo now, cool. How have you been man? I see your bro works at a great studio animating! Right on.

Great clip, Jason's animation is always top shelf stuff. I love his videos, too. Amazing teacher. I wish I could attend one of the iAnimate courses. Maybe in the next year or so I can do it (after I publish a game or two and raise some funds for it).

Anywho, thanks for sharing this, it's really funny seeing the cartoon "likenesses" of Brad and David animated. ;)

Great likeness and expression.
Love it!

I think iAnimate uses Maya, but they go with the flow like most people nowadays and you are allowed to use anything you want there.

Jason Ryan uses Maya, XSI and Modo and a few other things like Toon Boom.
oh my! Totally made my evening!

Great Work!
