why yes, glad you asked. The LuxPreview app for iPad is now available FREE on the AppStore.
It is a fun little technology demo that could actually prove useful. You can go to the link above and read all about it, or you can read it right here:
View modo’s preview render live, right on your iPad!
Connect to Luxology's 3D Image software, modo, running on a computer on your wireless network. Once the connection is established, the iPad app asks modo to send it a preview of the current scene, and update this whenever the scene changes. You can set the preview size and quality, and save shots to your photo album. Hook up an external display or projector to your iPad using an analog, VGA, or HDMI adapter, or via AirPlay to watch preview on the big screen. If you are rendering a stereoscopic scene, LuxPreview can display both eyes in your choice of stereo formats, and even output to a 3DTV for live, full stereoscopic render previews.

Advantages:
Free up space on your main monitor by moving Preview to your iPad.
Grab snapshots with a touch, right to your photo album
Watch preview renders live on a connected TV or projector
Send preview to AppleTV wirelessly over AirPlay
Stereoscopic preview live on iPad with wobble or anaglyph (red/blue) display.
Live stereoscopic preview on 3DTVs over HDMI or AirPlay
High-end external display controls with overscan and aligment grid for perfect stereo on 3DTVs even over AirPlay
View and save resolutions from 320x240 up to 2048x1536 in Draft, Good, Final, or Extended quality.
Built in help, even thought it's easy to use

Requirements:
Luxology modo 601 (www.luxology.com)
Wireless network

Have fun!
Oh wow, that is wicked!

I just tried it, works very well. This can be very useful when working on a laptop.

Thanks Arnie !

This is such a cool idea.

Steve
Any idea if you'll develop for the Android platform as well?
Very cool, I will give it a try. Thanks.
Very cool!

Very useful for when clients come to the office. They don't have to crowd around the computers, just setup a comfy lounge nearby with a bigscreen TV and stream preview to it.

On my macbookpro I often use AirDisplay to use my iPad as a second monitor, great for working offsite.

I'd love to see this extended somehow to be able to show the modo final render window on the iPad, either over local wifi or remotely. I'd love to be able to check on my HD renders without having to use VNC all the time when I'm out of the office.
Cool! Thanks!

Haha, amazing!
Terrific!
Neato! It works like a charm.
This is really nifty. Thank you so much.
Wow, this is a really cool stuff!now I have an excuse to replace my old ipad1 with The New iPad.

btw, is it possible to map a command to pause the preview from modo?

Does this work in iPad 1?

I can't get the app to connect. I use the default settings for the Host IP Address (which I assume detects automatically),
Command Port (12344) and Preview Port (12345).

When I tap the 'restart connection' icon, I expected it to refresh to re-establish connection but nothing happens. It does not attempt to re-establish the wifi connection.

IPad version: 5.1.1
Mac OSX 10.6.8
modo 601SP3 up and running with a rendered logo on my preview viewport.

What am I doing wrong?

yes it works with iPad 1, I am using it. You probably need to restart the app even the green light is on.
If the light is red, you might need to hit F5, enter both :

telnet.listen 12344

previewSocket.listen 12345

the app is not too stable, it always crash, should be low memory problem of iPad1.

Creative way to use the iPad, thanks!
This is awesome! Woo hoo!
Very nice! Love it, but would be nice if one could rotate the camera on the iPad.
Nice idea. Will you create something like this also for Windows and Android devices?
Would be cool if it just broadcast and you could send someone a link so they can see while you voice chat.
Got it working....cool stuff

Even just the statistics tab would be great. Maybe there would be a way of just sending the statistics information to a render monitor app?
