Oh yeah, because we're late! What a nice day. I woke up early this morning and made some blueberry pancakes for my two little girls. Then we played the Mary Poppins record (Yep! Record. The waxy ones.) and I did a little Step In Time with my two year old to entertain her little sister before coming in to get you all your Friday fix and then get back to work on 201. I hope you don't mind my being a little behind as a result. Sometimes you just have to keep things in perspective. I guess I really can't complain. One of our lead engineers just had a baby (well, his wife did most of the work) less than two weeks ago and yet he works nearly round the clock optimizing our 3D paint engine for release. Dedication to a cause or masochism? You be the judge. Anyway, May. OK. It's May. We're going to ship in May. MAY MAY MAY! Let's look at some images. This is a series of images based on the same model. There are two reasons to post these images. The first is that this shows the final result of a massive 201 tutorial series by Andy Brown. Second, this represents why we are so concerned with building community. Andy posted this in the beta wips section and asked for suggestions. Not only did people give constructive feedback, they jumped in and edited content to help improve the project. When people roll up their sleeves and collaborate everybody wins. Andy started with this. Sweet! But he wanted better. After some feedback about lighting. Andy keeps working on lighting... Ahmed Alireza jumps in with his own version with a little post processing. Michael Blackbourn posts some discussion of scale and then his contribution to the effort. Another one from Michael, this one as shot from helicopter with zoom lens to accentuate scale Ahmed jumps back in taking some tips on scale and adding his post processing tricks Finally Andy wraps it up by taking what he gleaned from everyone and creating this gorgeous image. That is the power of community. We can all stand on the shoulders of giants if we are just willing to share a little. This is what I really love about the Luxology community (beta and public). Keep it up folks. The constant improvement of 201 and the power of our beta team has resulted in a fantastic amount of killer images. The testers want me to point out that I am often posting WIPS (which I think is amazing since these are so good). This one jsut came in from Dan Ablan. This is the subject of a chapter about the Shader Tree in his modo book. 100% modo. No images. ![]() There are so many cool images Im just going to roll them without commentary. It's like that. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() more... |
