Friday again yo. This is really getting a lot harder every week. I don't have an actual date yet. However, we are code frozen. This means that any and all changes made to code are pre-approved and only to fix critical bugs that appear during the final phase. There are still bugs that we are committed to killing prior to release but these are falling off rapidly. I really can feel it coming. I really can. I'm not saying that from a marketing position. I'm saying that in the interest of being open and honest with this community. I'm just holding off any estimates until I send the final GM out to duplication.
I have one favor to ask. If you are getting frustrated with the wait, please email me directly. I'll be happy to hear your vent and will respond to as many people as possible. These forums are such a great resource to the masses I want to see if we can keep them focused and in the typical pro-active helpful tone they normally are.
The content and training materials continue to mount. Next week I will show you some samples of the content. Speaking of content...
I have another favor to ask!
Are you doing your part? Interested in fame and fortune? How about just a little geek fame? If you want to submit content materials to be included on the modo 201 disc you can send them to me directly at brad at luxology dot com. If your content is accepted and included you will get a credit in the docs system. Cool. Your fellow modonauts will revel in your greatness. Sharing is caring. Please only send materials that are cleared for public use.
Soooo this week I want to talk about skin. Many of you have seen some of the early SSS tests using modo for skin and are wondering how far can this go. Well, we have a couple testers who seem to think it can go pretty far. Since both of these testers used data that used ZBrush for high frequency detail I thought it would be appropriate to post a video on how to get ZB data into modo as a low res cage and displacement image texture. It's actually embarrasingly easy.
Direct download: modo + ZB
Torrent download: modo + ZB
So these images are so HOT I'm hiding them behind these links. Click em to see em...
The first is from Jacques Defontaine. Note sss is used on the skin and eyes.- Oh yeah
This one is from our newest beta tester. He came on board last friday. Not bad for less than a week... No words...
Take that...
;)

The enthusiasm and modotism is growing. I can hardly wait for 201. I wish I can have a release date, so I can plan to sleep and eat enough before I get my copy.
I am not going to zzzzzzz for days when 201 comes!

i must have timed it right today, or Lux got more bandwith.
AWWWESOME! video. This is what i wanna see. I can't wait to start using 201 for the microdisplacement. ONe of the main reasons im no longer using LW, since displacemnets are sub-par and even in v.9 its a hack of the old system.
Brad, can 201 use 32 bit displacment or Normal map data?
Zbrush, Cyslice.. and some currently unmentionable apps :) will generate float data. Would be nice to use with multiple displacement maps.It helps remove seams by not having to quantize the data into a smaller bit space then its calculated at. Besides the added level of detail in a 32 bit map vs. 16 bit :).

Mr. Peebler,
sorry for my english... With extreme respect, can i say my opinion about Your words? If i can it, personally always i'm appreciate Your honesty (i'm not hypocrite) and always i think it's right You take the time You needs. The only question i do is: will be possible we get Modo 201 before this next summer? Hope in Your answer.
In every case, Thank You very much.

That model was displacement and texture painted in ZB before Rick had 201. This was one of his first 201 shading tests.
