Well then!
It's another solid week of development. This week we reached yet another milestone. I am not confident enough to give you an exact date yet but in the next week or so I hope to be able to do just that. I can tell you that I am working like crazy on documentation and that is a good sign that things are wrapping up. In fact in this weeks videos you will notice a new layout I have been working in quite a bit. It's called 3D Sparse (I might rename it 3D Minimal) and it works really nicely with the new palettes. It definnitely maximizes screen real estate and we are very sensitive to real estate issues out here in California!
Goodies!
The testers were on fire this week. We had several cool new images. I want to focus on a couple and we'll get more out next week of course. My apologies to those testers who provided additional killer images. Don't worry! We'll get to them! :)
This one has a bit of everything. Global illumination, area light, spot light, displacement some painting, etc. I like it! (There was some post work done in After Effects to add the bloom I believe.)

Here is an alternate version with cooler temperature lights. Morning
Here is a great example of a product shot.

The movies are coming! The movies are coming! Thought we sould focus on UV and modeling tools this week for the modeling purists!

Thank you all for your support and patience. The team really is working incredibly hard to make sure this is not only an inspirational set of new features but to make sure things work well and reliably in production. It's a ton of work. But you people are worth it. ;)

Both very cool shots... its good to see a lot of variety in a render!
Any idea of the render details of the first pic? Time, system, etc?
*Waits for videos to download so he can comment further*
EDIT: Wow, really cool stuff there!
..but there was still an overlapping poly after you relaxed the ear!!!! =0

Wow! When each Friday I see how things look better & better - it makes it so much easier to wait. I'm eager (yes) - but I know it will be totally worth it.
Thanks Brad. And thank all the developers for us. :)

Why do i have the feeling that the "Cool" version was the rendered one and the "Warm" version came up through post?
Things are looking brighter and brighter each Friday in California... :)
Say, Brad... Are we gonna see another Lux roadmap at this year's Siggraph '06?
Cheers,

Brad is beside himself with excitement. Literally.
Which is good news for us, since now Brad can do twice the work and get Modo into our hot little hands that much faster!!
Beautiful renders by the way.

Brad,
I was drawn to Modo because ...out of principle I believe there are better ways ways of doing things (easier yet more powerful) and Modo seemed to epitomize this philosophy. I would first like to applaud you for all your efforts. Modo is a huge risk and a daring venture, what with all the products that are out there.
The person who dares to reach is the one who experiences the thrill of the climb.
Thanks for all your effort and truly I think we are starting to achieve the vision.

Nice videos as always, though I don't think I'll use the UV tools all that much myself. The "product shot" laptop rendering looks amazing.

Just wondering, does modo 201 come with an uv packing tool ?, something like here ?
http://www.polygonal-design.fr/e_unfold/manual5v4.php
The Scale reference is a very nice option to have in the packing process too.
Otherwise the uv improvement looks promising !
