Can't hardly wait! Sweeeet.
-------------------------------------
Is the second image using displacement mapping or just texture normals?
Will there be tangent and world space normal baking in 201? ------------ I should have been more specific and mindful of the information I have on Nmaps in modo. Will continue to wait.. . . . . . .

Servers are soooo.... slow... Gah! I'm downloading the videos right now, at an amazing 5-8 kilobyte per second per file. I'll get back to you in an hour or so, I guess. Current ETA for JetPaint.mov: 45 minutes.

Nice, Distant Lights, they might be useful... I really like the simplicity and how easy it is to create soft shadows that act realistically with the adjustment of just two items. These lights are looking robust and realistic. Awesome example of painting on an Object's different channels also.
My question this week regards the 3D painting tools. Will we be able to use the shift keys and click on the model at point A then click on Point B and have a perfectly straight line with the brushes pattern between the two like in Photoshop? Any plans for implementing Vector Curves, like Photoshop that can snap to BG, Object, Grid, etc? Just some ideas for 202, we can't all of Feburary, it is like the bud lite commercial where the guy stays a minute after 5:00PM on a friday. Thanks Greg http://wilgory.com

So each layer is an image map that you create and set size before you do anything. I would assume there are individual export options for each layer, right? Is there a global save that simply saves object and image maps with one click? Are these layers and their interactivity saved as part of the LWO or this new LXO or something else?
What exactly are the options for lens distortion?

Maybe I'm little touchy but if that render (with reflective balls) is rendered with GI, balls should reflect light into the ground, right? (of course caustics.. but reflect light anyway)
Anyway, I can't WAIT! ;] I want to render in modo right now, I can be betatester all night long but I want to have this powerfull tool ;] aaaghh ;]

Good stuff there :) Although no normal maps.. I also hope the tools don't get too specific, or it gets very complexe..

WOW the renderer is simply gorgeous! Love it.
How about a video showing how to set up cameras and lights and do a scene render? How about an uber-instances scene like the hippoes?

With the painting, it seems like the brushstroke didn't continue across separated items (when the paint stroke was applied from the wing edge then across to the tail).
Looks like Brad had to reclick
Is this normal for 3d painting? I honestly don't know

I love the spread setting. I have wanted this for the longest time and I didn't understand why we more developers haven't picked up on this. Awesome stuff. Very practicle.

Not really if u have the option to just "disable" irradiance (the quantity of light/color the object spills around) ;)
Only talking here dont know if Modo has that option or not..or even if it was used... but im assuming it has :p

Hi Brad,
I'm kinda rocking my chair nervously this evening, but not because of excitement. I'm honestly disappointed except for the fact that tabs now also visually are reflected as such - it makes the interface feel more coherent again. I know you are in love with the painting tools, but since this is the functionality I'm going to use the least, the novelty factor begins to wear thin with me. Could you please show us some modeling enhancements like the path tools and effectors and explain modos new I/O capabilities (FBX, EPS, DXF perhaps???) How are instances treated on export? How is the shader tree info translated to other formats' shading attributes? Does the polygon reduction maintain quads and n-gons? Is there per polygon wireframe color as in LW? Is there a native 2D fillet/ rounding tool? How does Python differ from Perl in terms of using commands and macros? So many questions, but little or no info so far.
