Here's a forum challenge. Model this character of "Henning" from this great drawing by our own "Warner McGee". Warner was asked to do a drawing on the last modo user group meeting and i requested that he draw "Henning" as a super hero. Warner whipped this drawing up right in front of our eyes.

So my thoughts were to ask Warner for the drawing and post it as a modeling challenge. Warner sent me the drawing and here it is.

Rules
Qualifying Software
---------------------
Modo only. PS (or similar) can be used for texturing
No post production allowed.Backgrounds are to include only 1 color.

Models
----------
Models should be your adaptation of "Henning" Image
(does not have to be an exact copy)

Progress shots - user is to create a thread in their username and post their progress to their own thread.

Everybody is eligible to compete

Models will include bust (like Warner's original drawing)

A finished render must be posted on thread along with a download link of your model and textures
for forum members to download and inspect. If you don't have a place to upload your models, contact
me and I will put them on the net with your name on it. A separate thread will be made for finished
contest entries.

Judging
--------
Judging will be done by the forum. A separate thread will be created to cast your vote.
Only 1 vote per forum member. Voting thread will be created July 31st. Whoever has the most votes
by midnight Aug1 will be declared the winner.

There will be a party held at Cascio Blanco in Honolulu the evening of August 1st. You must be present to win.
(just kidding)

We will have an Internet Modo User Group Meeting on August 6th and would like to discuss methods, tips and tricks on
how these models were built. We invite all to join this meeting.

Come on guys and gals. Show us your stuff!!!

Looks like good fun, Jim!

Way beyond my meager abilities for now, but I've always thought some modeling 'challenges' around the forums would be great fun, and good for morale, too.

Hope everyone that can, joins in!! Looking forward to seeing some cool stuff!

Nice, I may join this.

Dumb question, but who´s "Henning"? From a comic book, tv or what?

EDIT: Lol Lol did a forum search, sorry Henning, didn´t know you until now!

I will get a panel of 3 judges to judge the entries. Judgement day will be August 1st. I will come up with some kind of prize for the winner.

Rules are that the model has to be 100% modo. That's it. Come on guys and gals. Show us your stuff!!!

Henning is only the coolest guy on this forum. He just did the modo user group meeting with Warner. Warner drew his picture.

You don't have to 'run solo' Jim. I may not be good enough at modeling to play along, but maybe I can help out with the 'prize'?

Maybe an Andy Brown tutorial? Or one of those new modo t-shirts?

If you're interested, leave me an email address, and we'll work out the details!

The pic looks kinda cool & intimidating. ;)
Cool stuff Warner. :)

Nice to have challenges. :)

Hopefully at the end , we can have downloadable mesh/es for final submissions. If thats not asking for too much. (Or is it?)

i think downloadable meshes would be cool. and i'd like to see the winners mesh in the shared asset section.

Sounds like fun.

so we can't even use photoshop for texturing? all has to be done with Modo paint? Does that mean if its 100% modo is Image Ink allowed because technically you could make a texture in photoshop then use it via image ink, would that still be 100% modo? What if you decide the character needs a red tint or something? Can we not use photoshop to tweak levels or curves or anything like that instead of re-painting the character? I wouldn't use photoshop for any post production stuff i just want to know if we can use it for texturing? Thanks, cant wait to get started on this project.

If could be fun if I can find the time to do it! :)

ok...here's the deal. i have given this contest some more thought.

the models have to be put on the asset sharing site with textures.

the judges will be the entire forum. i will create a thread on august 1st and you can vote there for the the one you think is the best!!

models have to be 100% modo. you can use photoshop for texturing
(no zbrush!)

since the models will be judged by the forum...anybody can compete!

i'm working on the prize
