Hey! For the Holiday season we're getting this installment up early. Don't get used to it. I'm too lazy to always be early!
Development continues to march on. We do our external testing in waves so that we can add "fresh eyes" to the application even late in the testing process. We are nearing a new "wave" which means we have met some milestones recently. There is one implementation remaining and aside from that engineer everyone else is simply squashing bugs and they are squashing them rapidly. While we do not want to give specific estimates yet I can say that Q1 looks VERY reasonable.
Let's get to the good stuff! Today I bring you some extra goodies. Let's start with images. The first is an image with the Holiday spirit in mind. This is a modo-Photoshop combo. (PS used for some post process touch ups)

This one looks like some place I would like to be right about now! (Great example of micropoly displacement rendering.)

And here is an awesome variation on the Cornell Box theme...

Now for the videeos! The first is a little combo-action showing a taste of Solid Sketch and instancing.
Instances
This is a little extra one, consider it a "stocking stuffer" showing a couple tricks with input remapping (this is tip of the iceberg, it gets cooler)
Input Remapping
Have a wonderful Holiday week. We'll catch you next Friday!

Thank you for the update, images and videos.
Happy holidays to all the Luxology Team members and this great community.
edit: I wonder if 201 will be able to do 3D stereo images? to make people cross eye :)

So many new things.. it's a bit overwhelming, but I'm impressed with all of it :) Thanks Lux, keep on rockin'!
PS: You can't fool me, those are real limes! You almost had me though!
...just kidding. But I've been wondering, will we get to see the renderer's other tricks? As in, how can I tweak the settings and stuff... perhaps other presets? A special toon shader? Anything?

And, thanks Brad for giving us a hint about a likely release time frame.

It's already Friday in the south pacific island of Fiji. (Maybe that's where you'd like to be right now!)

Sweet stuff you guys are showing off there. The remapping looks superb and I know I'll be using that heavily! Very nice. Great to see the presets also, I know a lot of user will appreciate that feature!
The images look great as well and the instancing will be very very useful. Keep up the great work and I wish the whole lux team (and community) a very Merry Christmas and holiday season!

The input remapping is genius. Think when you're done with 201 you could redo the Photoshop interface?? I've been wanting context sensative keyboard shortcuts there for ages.

Thanks Brad! I am blown away. The input mapping is amazing.
I love that the Lux team is disciplined enough to dedicate time to "boring" yet fundamental interface features. There might be more glory in making a dynamics engine or sub-pixel displacement or what have you, but input mapping is a brilliant feature that we will ALL use everyday all day.

Well that was early. Thought I'd have to wait till this evening. :-)
Cool stuff we see here though we already know solid sketch and instances, so nothing new in showing us that.

The renderings are cool Brad. Hey you guys behind 201 don't worry a bit about the delay. I'm sure many of us can afford to wait.
This the time off this Christmas and have a good rest. You guys deserve it!

Nice stuff. Any test with SSS? Allen told me that he need to give the SSS code a few dats of TLC before it's ready for prime time, so I really want to know the result.
