Happy Friday everyone,

This has been a really good week of development. We released a new version to testers that had a ton of really great enhancements. So far feedback is very positive. Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but there is definitely a feeling of momentum here.

For this weeks dose of 201 goodness we bring to you two images from a series done by one of our intrepid testers. I like these for the style and the content. Thundercats and Mr T in one shot?!?! Yes!

Also, we bring you two video clips that we gave to testers to explain some basic use of the Shader Tree and layer baking. It also covers a little of the enhancements to the Mesh List and some other basic stuff. It is generally a good entry-level tutorial that should give you a little insight into things to come.

We hope you enjoy this weeks installment. See you all here next week. Same Bat Time. Same Bat channel!

Thanks for the video. Not sure about the images though, the 'quality of light' looks great and I like dof as much as the next person, but there seems to be no point in focus... a real eye killer for me. Although could just be this old monitor.

Tha's one of the things that makes them so convincing for me, they really do look like a couple of autofocus happy snap shots of someone's noticeboard.

Thanks Brad, this is indeed cool...very cool! :)

Not wanting to sound fanboyish, but for me this is 50% of what sets Lux apart from the rest; great software (50%) and great customer support/relations (the other 50%).

Again, thanks for the update Brad...I can't wait to get my hands on this.

Cheers

P.S. I feel for you Adrian, but I know what NL are like...I suffered RealFlow.

Yeah, it's like when the first (or second maybe) Lord of the Rings movie ended. You couldn't believe you had to wait a year to see what was next.
Of course most of us could probably sit through hours of this.
I guess I should be getting more models done so I have things to render when I actually get to use 201 myself.
Maybe I'll go do that.

indeed, but eye strain territory for me :-)

Love the speedy texture baking and 201's non-destructive approach in terms of the underlying texture layers. The ability to see all your layers in the mesh list without having to click them all individually also looks like a great time saver, especially for projects involving large numbers of instances, which appear to be assigned to indivdual layers from whats shown in the earlier 201 preview videos.
