Hey everyone,

Prepping for Siggraph. No time for modcast, sorry. But let's play a game? Remember the old "How many jelly beans in the jar" game? Well, how many polygons in this image?

Winner gets... something.

Wish us luck!

6,800,000,000 at render time.. maybe more if this is a glimpse at 64 bitness

I've seen 1 billion done with instances, and done about 30 million physical polys with displacement personally.

I'm hoping it's in the 10's or 100's of millions, otherwise it is some sick displacement or parallax tech.

I'd say 100 million.

Wow
This looks exciting.....
Hope Modo still works well with my setup :0)
Wish I could have made it to siggraph for the news.

My guess is 100,000,100 modo handles it no problem out of the box

I think its some advanced form of instancing, same as the image of last week. So if that is true then there should not be a lot of polygons in the image. 999 is my guess. Yes I know it sounds ridiculous

If each polygon is smartly sized to a pixel, then its only around 580k, 2.3 million if there's more for subsampling.

This is like that episode of the Simpsons where homer sends Marge on a scavenger hunt during their anniversary so that he could have time to play some golf.!

I seriously hope there's some hugenormous announcement for Modo on Siggraph to live up to the expectations.

--------------------------------------------------------
I'll play for now and say 2.100.000.000 billion polys
--------------------------------------------------------

Who knows :( (This is a first, I usually can't wait for the weekend to come and dread Mondays but it's the other way around this time)
