Congratulations on this release Seth. I'm certainly looking at these with an interested eye. I can appreciate the work involved as I am trying to wrap up a website for some tutorial series I've been recording over the last few months and just tie up the loose ends.

Hey Seth, here's a present, throw away your calculator widget:

mm_GammaCompensate

add a pop up that does it for you :)

Zip contains a script and config file. put the script in your user Scripts directory and the config file in your user Configs directory. T oadd the pop-up to the properties form. Restart or start Modo, open the form editor and scroll down to find thw Gamma Compensate form:

Now scroll down and find the Properties form, click the arrow to expand and find the 'Material Ref' section, click the arrow next to that to expand, then go back up and drag the Gamma Compensate form down and drop it between 'Diffuse Color' and 'Conserve Energy':

You should now have a new drop-down underneath the 'Diffuse Color' control. Clicking on that will bring up the pop-up and you can choose between 1.6, 1.8 and 2.2 gamma compensation for the Diffuse Color. Selecting any one of these will update the Diffuse Color values:

Thanks for saving me the work GwynneR. You took the idea right out of my head. (looks around for his tin foil.) And made it much better than the way I was imagining the implementation.

No worries guys.

Heh, well it was born more of a mix of laziness and an inability to memorise any kind of mathematical relationship for longer than a nanosecond. I just thought, I'm forever going to have to be firing up the bloody video to remind myself what it was, so better to spend ten minutes knocking together a script and be done with it :D

And it does provide another great little example of how trivial it is to seemlessly integrate custom functionality from a script exactly where it's most usefull in the UI in just a few seconds - I've got a bee in my bonnet about showing people that when it comes to incorporating scripts, applications like Lightwave are in no way comparible to Modo :)

I think we also started this a while back in a "different" forum but we did it incorrectly if I remember right. We were just adjusting the precent not the rgb saturation.

If I would of known getting you to do scripts was this easy..... haha :)

Oh I'm always open to suggestions for scripts. I think most of the ones I've written have been in reponse to a request or suggestion on the forum so if you've got ideas anytime fire them off in the scripting section and I'll most likely have a go.
