I have a major problem, a job that has 4 months work in it all done in 301, will not open at all in 302 not from the first version of the project to the last. It still opens fine in 301, the client is thinking of buying Modo to view model, how the hell do I tell them they can't?
302 tries to open the file and gets to 90% then crashes. So what does modo load last? That would maybe narrow it down. Does the same on two different machines.

I suggest you send a file to Lux, they have the best chance to figure out the problem, I don't suppose you can post a scene here?

We're having the same problem with 302 at work... pretty much every asset we've created using 301 crashes 302 when loading.
We've decided just to ditch 302 in favour of 301.

Nope, they're all standard meshes here, all polygonal stuff for use in a game engine.
This is one of the assets that doesn't load, if anyone wants to have a bash :)

Loads up fine here - but I do not have the image maps.
Edit: I guess as a work around you could remove the maps, load in 302 and apply them again if indeed that is the problem until a fix or the likes is found. :)
Edit2: Or move the maps to a different folder, load in 302 and save. Move the maps back and re-open - might work.

Ok, this has inspired some further investigation...
I tried the open in 301/delete images/save/open in 302 you suggested that worked, so I tried to see if I could narrow it down.
If the file doesn't load in 302, it appears I can open it in 301, close 301 without making any changes whatsoever, and it opens fine in 302.
I'm slightly more confused now, heh.
Something odd with permissions or last altered date? I'm not sure, I tried a mix of checking in and out some test files to the SVN system we use and altering the read/write permissions of the file and it didn't seem to have any effect.

Scene is enormous and secret so no posting. I've narrowed it down, it is something to do with the scene parsing the maps, and here's the weirdness I narrowed it down to one map, but there was nothing untoward about the file, or the material settings. I resaved the offending item as a tga and reloaded it and all is well. I need to go back and check other old stuff still opens now. Didn't to my blood pressure any good tho, thanks for responses. Rob

Definitely submit bugs on these issues, and email the models and matching bug IDs to customer_service@luxology.com so we can figure out what's going on. All models will be considered NDA and will not be shared with anyone; just be sure to make a note if it when you email us the model.

Banana tree with Maps/ available crashes Modo 302 for me. When Maps is renamed/removed, the scene opens fine.
So what I did was check the JPEG version and your .jpg files report as:
BananTrunkBum.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.02 BananTrunkCol.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.02 BannanaCol.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.02 BannanaMask.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.02
And then loaded them up using OSX's preview and re-saved them as JPEG files and it changed it:
BananTrunkBum.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 BananTrunkCol.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 BannanaCol.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 BannanaMask.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01
...and this fixes the crash! It loads no problems now, including maps.
