Masahiro, Welcome to the forum! Excellent start! This is one of the 5 most critical craft and an awesome and challenging subject so I am really looking forward to this one! I am also very happy that it is being done by one of our local san diego modo user group members! Thanks for participating and for posting your work! -Jeff

Yummy NICE clean mesh! ;-)
It is wonderful to get to see the different ways each artist approaches modeling their craft with different techniques! This whole project is an amazing learning experience if you have time to study all the WIP threads!
Thanks for the update Masahiro!

So glad to see the F-4! I grew up in Derby Ks just south of McConnel AFB. I was in love with the F-4s that were always flying over our house.

That's coming on nicely. Don't forget to model in the panels that have fallen off over Brads old house, and the VAST oil leaks on the underside when you texture map it ;)
PS. If you run out of time, not that it is *that* tight just yet, I have ancillary bits for the F4s that you might be able to use - if only as reference material.
EG cockpit parts, ejection seat, landing gear, jetpipes - etc.
If you do then pm away.
Looking for the next job. http://www.mkiii.co.uk

Great start, great plane.
some great books on the F-4 are Squadron/signal Publications aircraft Number 65 and Number for the Phantom. Also Aero Publshers Inc. has the F-4 drawn to 1/72 scale in Parts 1, 2 & 3 on the F-4 Phantom II in detail & scale by Bert Kinzey.
For Brad World Air power journal has one of the best books on the F-4 Phantom from being to end (and the experimental birds) titled McDeonnell F-4 phantom spirit in the skies by Jon Lake.
The only pint I've noticed is that the nose on you F-4S is too small. The Navy birds carry a AN/APQ-72 radar and that has a diameter of about 32 inchs the F-4E's Air Force birds carryed the AN/APQ128 radar and that has a diameter of about 22-27 inchs, so the nose is just a little too long and too small for the F-4S.
Still it is a Great start and a great plane.

My uncle who flew this a few times in Vietnam says it is too big and too many seats! He much preferred his F-100 for the agile and solo jet jock experience. But this F-4S is still an AWESOME machine! -Jeff

Funny how it depends on the person or branch of service. At an airshow once I talked with a Marine pilot, that was about to retire, and he liked having the back seater guy. He said it was great having the other guy share the workload when flying in high threat zones.
A good book to read about flying combat in different planes in Vietnam is Squadron/signal publications "...And Kill Migs" by lou Drendel.
If you're interested in the difference of Korea v. Vietnam combat flying Squadron/signal publication's "Mig Alley" by Larry is filled with pilot reports from the Korean war.
BOth books are basically the reports filed by the pilots after their missions.

Masahiro, Nice update! Looks like you were up all night (3:22 AM post)! Lots of small details on this bird - mostly on the belly... If you have not been to the museum yourself recently I would suggest visiting before you finish so you have a first hand impression of this awesome craft and what everyone will see on the belly and elsewhere. Buy the way, those added parts are called "elevators". ;-) Looks like you modeled them as a separate piece? -Jeff

The museum is open every day including weekends 10 AM to 4: PM. However, I just sent an email to a guy at the museum who has been helping us on this project. Hopefully he can arrange to let you in just to see your bird! It will insire you greatly! 8-) -Jeff

Nice to see her shaping up! Even that starting form of the infamous tail hook! ;-) However, it appears you are modeling parts that are not on the one in the museum (like those big drop tanks and whatever that long rod is in the middle)... -Jeff
