OK. I know I said no more info, but I forgot to mention...Yes it works with symmetry. Yes it can be layered. That's all I'm sayin'.

We could really do with smilies on this forum.

At this point I would be looking for the "fell off my chair in surprise" smiley.
Blimmin heck, that's seriously cool !!

So I take it it's being released next week ? Ha, ha, just kidding.

Brad, what are the last 2 tabs in "tabbed 3D" viewport? The tabs next to "UV 3D Split", rendering something? ;)

I can't really play the .mp4 . I got bits and pieces of Brad (hmmm) but mostly silence. I downloaded the file twice.

EDIT: VLC player saved the day again.

If you look carefully it says

"nothing to"
"see here"

So there. ;)

Weird - I was just browsing around a few sites, went to see the latest on Mudbox then came straight here for the Friday update. Coincidence? Or Luxological mind control?

Who can tell.

Man you are going to make this difficult on us!
We are preparing for a Mudbox with modo presentation for a san diego modo user group meeting early next year. We are all expecting some animation in the next major release of modo, but I don't think any of us were expecting advanced sculpting!
Maybe Mudbox will still have some unique features (such as independent texture layers) that will make it a valuable add-on, but now I have to rethink how much I want to invest in that (learning time as well as money).
The big question still remains how long we will have to wait for this.
It is great to dream about having everything in a single package all done right the modo way some day!
Keep up the inspiring/creative/innovative/aggressive/excellent work!

Thanks Brad for this nice news/preview
This is so very nice to see and know..
i already bought a non-commercial license of Mudbox..
but it is so great to know
that modo is heading this way too in the near future...
and then to have it "all" in one!..in ...modo!
i am so happy with this...!!
The sculpting options look great btw!

thank you..and
greetings Andusan

Thank you Luxology for making this functionality a part of modo.
In true Lux fashion, I can tell that the artist will be in
control of the tools, not the other way around. Any idea of
when displacement painting will become available to the end-user?

There are alot of frustrated ZBrush users out there...and I'm one of them. I can't wait! Just seeing this video is like Christmas early.

EDIT - oh, btw Brad - I'm TOTALLY FREAKED OUT.

By the way, when you say "next major release" I assume you are talking about a paid release like 301 that I expect to be some time yet, or do you mean a free upgrade series release like 203?
