Hmmmmm, I havent tried this one yet, and may not, but it would seem the SLICE tool could really come in handy. A couple tightly placed slices through an entire portion of the mesh should allow you to fold just about anything with Brad's bend technique...

Well I for one would be very interested to see what you mean... :-)

Sorry for the delay in responding, trying to earn a living here..., and the tutorial demonstration takes time to pull together in a flowing and coherent manner. Maintaining uniform 'cardboard' thickness thoroughout the bending is the challenge. I will try to complete the tutorial and post it to share shortly. I have done it in a "kludgey" manner, now trying to be more elegant in my approach.

I hear ya. I'm just grateful to people for taking any of their precious time out to address this challenge... paying work has to come first, of course. Thanks for your continued attention tho'. :-)

The long awaited tutorial has arrived??!!! For all of those out there who wondered if it would ever get done, I have completed a box tutorial on the Pacific Almond milk folded box demonstation. As previously stated, I tried it multiple times, each time learning more. I have a renewed appreciation for anyone making tutorials, trying to be short and focused, then compiling the results into anything less than enormous, what a boggle. Lots of compromises along the way. I am hosting it on my site so the response may not be as fast as some might expect. It is in three(3) parts.

box-tutorial1.mov 33mb
Box Tutorial #1
box-tutorial2.mov 73mb
Box Tutorial #2
box-tutorial3.mov 98mb
Box Tutorial #3

I have included a web ready, lower res. render below for reference to the final, which is a better reference than the one at the end of the movie, which after compression, lost most of detail that this one shows. At final render time, I did swap out the lower res. proxy used for building with a high res. (300dpi) scan for more detail, at least on my screen. Any comments are welcomed, and critiques on methodology, since I did it at least 5 different ways with varying results. Fine challenge. All for now.

Paul,
I just got done watching the first mov in the series. This is a fantastic tutorial. I highly recommend that everyone watch it. It'll teach you more than just how to fold up the box.
Thanks Paul. This is a real gift to the community.

Trevor Gilchrist. Hello...
Never saw a reply to my posting and your personal profile is disabled, so??? who knows. Hopefully you got to see my efforts. I have subsequently cut the time in half and increased the quality of the piece with more careful effort. Best to you.
